Evony Alliance Boss Rally Guide: Coordination, Generals, and Rewards
TL;DR: World map bosses require alliance rallies to defeat. Coordinating which bosses to rally, when to rally them, and who leads with which general is the difference between efficient kills and wasted stamina. This guide covers boss types, general selection, stamina management, and how to organize your alliance’s boss hunting schedule.
How world map bosses work
World map bosses are powerful monsters that spawn on the world map and require alliance rallies to defeat. A single player cannot solo them — you need a rally leader to set the target and alliance members to fill the rally with troops.
The key bosses you will encounter:
- Hydra — one of the most common rally bosses. Hydra Invasion is a recurring Monday/Tuesday event where boss kills count toward event scoring.
- Phoenix — appears on both the world map and as a boss in BoG (Battle of Gaugamela) battlefield events.
- Peryton — a flying boss with specific weakness mechanics.
- Gorgon — high stamina cost, strong rewards.
- Ymir — endgame boss with very high power requirements.
- Lava Turtle — tanky boss that rewards patience and proper troop composition.
Each boss has a different power level, stamina cost to attack, and reward table. Stronger bosses drop better loot — general fragments, speedups, resources, and crafting materials — but require more coordinated rallies to kill efficiently.
Why boss coordination matters
Without coordination, boss hunting is chaotic. Here is what goes wrong in alliances that do not organize their boss kills:
- Stamina waste: members burn stamina on bosses they cannot kill efficiently, then have nothing left when an event like Hydra Invasion starts.
- Poor general selection: rally leaders bring PvP generals instead of monster-hunting generals, dealing 30-50% less damage.
- No fill discipline: members do not fill boss rallies because nobody called for help, so the rally leader attacks with half capacity.
- Missed event scoring: during Hydra Invasion or other boss-related events, uncoordinated kills miss the timing windows that maximize event points.
The fix is a simple boss rally schedule and clear roles.
Setting up a boss rally schedule
Your alliance should have a predictable rhythm for boss hunting. Here is what works:
Daily boss hunting (non-event periods):
- Designate 1-2 rally windows per day when most members are online (e.g., 14:00 UTC and 22:00 UTC)
- Rally leader for each window is pre-assigned on a rotation
- Members who are online during the window fill the rally when called
- Post the daily schedule in Discord so people know when to be available
Event-driven boss hunting (Hydra Invasion, etc.):
- When a boss event is active, rally frequency increases. Plan for 3-4 coordinated rally sessions per day.
- Assign specific rally leaders to specific boss levels based on their general strength
- Track kills against event scoring thresholds — know how many more kills you need to hit the next reward tier
- Prioritize stamina efficiency. It is better to kill 10 bosses cleanly than attempt 15 and fail on 5.
Weekly boss calendar template:
Monday: Hydra Invasion starts -- rally windows at 12:00, 18:00, 22:00 UTC
Tuesday: Hydra Invasion continues -- same windows, adjust based on remaining stamina
Wednesday: BoG day (Phoenix appears on the BoG battlefield, not the world map)
Thursday: Regular boss hunting -- 2 windows, rally leader rotation
Friday: Regular boss hunting -- 2 windows
Saturday: BoC day -- boss hunting only if members have spare marches
Sunday: Light boss hunting or rest day before Monday's Hydra Invasion
General selection for boss rallies
This is where most alliances leave damage on the table. Your boss rally general matters enormously.
Monster-hunting generals vs. PvP generals:
- Generals with monster-specific skills (increased damage against monsters, reduced stamina cost, bonus loot) are significantly more effective than PvP generals for boss fights.
- A dedicated monster hunter general at lower star level will often outdamage a maxed PvP general against bosses because of the skill multipliers.
- Build and invest in at least 2-3 monster hunting generals for your alliance’s primary rally leaders.
Matching general to boss type:
- Each boss has weaknesses to specific troop types. If a boss is weak to ranged, your rally leader should use a ranged monster-hunting general with ranged troops.
- Do not guess. Check the boss info screen or consult your alliance’s boss guide to see which troop type deals bonus damage.
- The secondary general slot should complement the primary — look for skills that buff the same troop type or debuff the boss.
General rotation for multi-window days:
- If your alliance runs 3 rally windows in a day, do not burn your best rally leader in all three. Rotate leaders across windows.
- Have backup rally leaders trained with decent monster generals. If your primary leader is offline, the backup should be able to run the rally without a quality drop.
- Document which general combos work best against each boss type. This saves time on future events instead of rediscovering the best setup every month.
Stamina management
Every boss attack costs stamina. Stamina is a finite resource that regenerates slowly, so managing it is critical during boss events.
Stamina rules for your alliance:
- Before a boss event (like Hydra Invasion), members should conserve stamina for 24-48 hours. Do not burn stamina on random world map bosses the day before Hydra Invasion starts.
- During the event, prioritize bosses that give the most event points per stamina spent. Lower-level bosses cost less stamina but give fewer points. Higher-level bosses cost more but give more points per stamina if you can kill them efficiently.
- Track your alliance’s total stamina pool. If half your members are tapped out by Tuesday afternoon, you have burned too fast.
Stamina recovery tips:
- Stamina recovery items should be saved for event days, not used casually.
- VIP level affects stamina recovery rate. Higher VIP members can sustain more rallies per day.
- If a member is out of stamina, they can still fill other members’ rallies. Filling does not cost the filler’s stamina — only the rally leader spends stamina.
Rally execution for boss kills
The actual rally process for bosses follows the same mechanics as PvP rallies with a few differences:
Setting the rally:
- Rally leader selects the boss on the world map
- Chooses their monster-hunting general (not their PvP or gathering general)
- Selects the appropriate troop type (matching the boss’s weakness)
- Sets a 5-minute countdown timer
- Calls it in Discord: “Boss rally open — [Boss Name] Level [X], [troop type], fill now”
Filling the rally:
- Members join during the countdown with the requested troop type
- Unlike PvP rallies where speed is critical (the target might shield), boss targets do not move or shield, so fills can be more relaxed
- Still aim for full capacity — more troops means faster kills and less wasted stamina on repeat attempts
After the kill:
- Rally leader posts the loot drop in Discord
- Track which bosses were killed and at what level for event scoring
- If the boss event is still active, immediately set the next rally. Momentum matters.
Boss loot and reward distribution
Boss kills generate loot for the rally participants. The game distributes rewards automatically, but your alliance should understand how it works:
- The rally leader and participants receive rewards based on damage contribution
- General fragments are the most valuable drop from many bosses — these are used to enhance specific generals
- Speedups and resource items are common drops that benefit everyone
- Crafting materials for general equipment drop from higher-level bosses
Alliance-level reward tracking:
- Track which members participate in boss rallies over time. This feeds into your roster hygiene and activity tracking.
- Members who consistently fill boss rallies are contributing to the alliance even if they are not rally leaders. Recognize this.
- During events, post running totals of boss kills and event points earned. Visibility drives participation.
Common boss rally mistakes
Mistake 1: Wrong general for the job. Using a PvP general against a boss wastes damage potential. Always use a monster-hunting general for boss rallies.
Mistake 2: Burning stamina before an event. If Hydra Invasion starts Monday, do not spend all your stamina on random bosses over the weekend. Plan ahead.
Mistake 3: No fill calls. A rally leader who silently opens a boss rally and hopes people notice will get half-filled rallies. Call it in voice, post it in text.
Mistake 4: Attacking bosses above your alliance’s level. If your alliance cannot reliably kill a Level 16 Hydra, do not waste stamina attempting it. Kill Level 14s efficiently and build your strength.
Mistake 5: No tracking. Without tracking boss kills, event points, and participation, you cannot improve. You also cannot prove to your members that their effort is contributing to alliance goals.
Integrating boss hunts into your alliance rhythm
Boss hunting should be a regular part of your weekly cadence, not a special occasion:
- Monday-Tuesday: Hydra Invasion focus. Maximum organized rally windows.
- Wednesday: BoG day. Phoenix appears on the battlefield, not the world map.
- Thursday-Friday: Regular boss hunting. Good time to farm general fragments.
- Weekend: Light hunting or rest. Save stamina if Hydra Invasion is coming Monday.
